Shreveport police obtain warrants in Uptown Cheapskate cellphone theft (shreveportbossierjournal.com) — Shreveport police have obtained arrest warrants for two people accused of stealing an employee's iPhone from the Uptown Cheapskate store on Line Avenue. Investigators say surveillance video shows the phone being taken and that one suspect is a habitual theft offender with prior Shreveport convictions. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact Shreveport police.
   

2. Notice of Death – August 27, 2026 (shreveportbossierjournal.com) — Families across Shreveport and nearby communities are announcing funeral and memorial service times for loved ones who passed between August 14 and 24, 2026. Services run from today, August 28, through mid-September at churches, funeral homes, and cemeteries throughout Shreveport, Keithville, Greenwood, Benton, and Plain Dealing, giving friends and neighbors clear details on when and where they can pay their respects.
   

3. SporTran launches Louisiana's first self-driving bus (ksla.com) — SporTran has rolled out Louisiana's first self-driving bus in Shreveport, launching a federally funded pilot that will test autonomous service on routes around the city and the Shreveport-Bossier area. A human driver will stay behind the wheel during testing, and officials say the project could create new tech-focused jobs as they build an autonomous operations campus this fall.
   

4. Home Burglary Leads to Two Arrests in Shreveport (710keel.com) — Shreveport police arrested two women after a resident reported more than $1,300 in belongings missing from her home earlier this month, but detectives later recovered all the property from a storage unit. Investigators say one suspect had permission only to remove another resident's items, and they're reminding Shreveport residents that consent to take one person's property never extends to anyone else's.
