On August 19, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport is opening its Center for Perinatal Medicine, located on their St. Mary Medical Center campus at 1801 Fairfield Ave, Suite 307. The Center for Perinatal Medicine expands the healthcare system’s maternal-fetal medicine capacity for patients dealing with high-risk pregnancies in this new location with the addition of another new maternal-fetal medicine specialist.

Joining Dr. David Lewis, maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Ochsner LSU Heath, is Dr. P. Scott Barrilleaux. Dr. Barrilleaux was born in Franklin, La. and obtained his medical degree and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at LSU Health Sciences Center – Shreveport, School of Medicine. He also completed a three-year fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. Dr. Barrilleaux returned to Louisiana as a founding partner and to practice for nearly 20 years at Acadiana Maternal-Fetal Medicine in Lafayette, La., one of the last two remaining private maternal-fetal medicine practices in the state, before joining Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport.
The maternal-fetal medicine team at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport – Center for Perinatal Medicine, offers expert and compassionate care for high-risk pregnancies. The physicians, nurses and support teams are available to care for patients through all moments of their pregnancy, including preconception counseling, prenatal ultrasound and genetic counseling, coordination of care with multiple medical specialists, as well as delivery and postpartum care of high-risk pregnancies.
