Everyone is invited to join the fun with Halloween-themed games at the several Shreve Memorial Library branches. The Broadmoor, Hollywood/Union Avenue, and Atkins branches are providing children, teens and families a chance to try their hand at Hallowed-themed versions of some of our favorite games.

The Broadmoor Branch is inviting young and old to try their luck at Halloween mini-golf, trivia, and video games. Starting Monday, October 25 and continuing each day through Saturday, October 30, library patrons are challenged to complete an eerie mini-golf course and escape the cold, hungry grasps of the restless departed among the haunted tombstones of Morningside Cemetery, set up at the branch located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive. If you are brave enough, you can pay your respects by requesting a club and golf ball from the Broadmoor Information Desk and play a few haunted holes of mini-golf. The mini-golf course will be available during normal library hours.

On Tuesday, October 26, teens at the Broadmoor Branch will put their knowledge about Halloween to the test with a Jeopardy-style trivia game. Then, on Wednesday, October 27, school-aged children will have a scare of a good time preparing for Halloween by playing the Nintendo Switch and making Halloween crafts. Both events begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be held in the meeting room of the Broadmoor Branch.

At the Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch, families are encouraged to participate in a spooky game of Halloween Bingo. Children, their caregivers and families are encouraged to join the branch for a game of chance on Monday, October 25 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The game will take place in the meeting room at the Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch, located at 2105 Hollywood Avenue.

The Atkins Branch, 3704 Greenwood Road, will also host a spooky trivia event. On Saturday, October 30, at Atkins Branch, participants will play Jeopardy “Spooky Edition.” Prepare to be scared by how much participants know about Halloween. Game time is at 3:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the branch.

In addition to game play, the West Shreveport and Hollywood/Union Avenue Branches will host screenings of the family favorite, Hocus Pocus. The film follows a villainous comedic trio of witches who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night. Staring in the film are Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. Showings of the film will take place on Monday, October 25 at the West Shreveport Branch, 4380 Pines Road, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and on Saturday, October 30, at the Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Families are also invited to go trick-or-treating several Shreve Memorial Libraries as part of the library’s Fall Fest events. On Tuesday, October 26, the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch will host its Fall Fest. The fun starts at 5:00 p.m. Participants will play games and make crafts. A photo opportunity will also be available, along with lots of candy. The event will take place in the meeting room at the branch, at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.
