Maine editor resigns?

There's a whole lot of shakin' going on - at Maine's largest newspaper.

But what's shakin' is the question...

The paper is advertising for a news editor who will oversee "five to six reporters."

Would that be five or would that be six?

The paper has undergone a major management reshuffling since it was bought out three years ago by The National Trust for Local News.

The Colorado-based company has replaced its CEO as well as its Maine publisher since the purchase, as well as laying off dozens of employees.

The paper's ad in JournalismJobs.com doesn't specify whether the soon-to-be-hired editor is a replacement or a new position.

"We are an ambitious news organization with high standards and a talented staff, and we need a strong leader to help to grow our audience and have positive impacts on our communities and state. We aim to do it all – breaking news, compelling narratives, accountability reporting, data-driven journalism with engaging interactives.

"For the right candidate, this is a fantastic opportunity. But you must be able to juggle a lot: big enterprise stories, medium-length dailies and breaking news. The news editor will supervise five to six reporters and work closely with other assignment editors, digital and visual teams."

The paper is also seeking a political reporter and a "community-news" writer.
