Cozy coffee is lead of the day?

Lest there be any question about its dedication to hard news, the Portland Press Herald wants to leave no doubt.

So editors led Monday's paper with a thumbsucker business feature honoring National Coffee Day.

Can't make it up folks - unless you are the Colorado-based National Trust for Local News, which owns Maine's largest newspaper.

"Dunkin' and L.L. Bean, two New England-based companies, are collaborating for the first time on fall giveaways and products celebrating the season and National Coffee Day," the paper's Kelley Bouchard wrote.

"Starting Tuesday, when the autumn equinox kicks off astronomical fall, Dunkin' customers can get a limited-edition cup sleeve fashioned after a classic L.L.Bean bird's-eye sweater in Dunkin' pink and orange," Bouchard promised.

"The miniature sweater is free with the purchase of any hot or iced coffee and will be available at all Dunkin' locations in Maine and other locations nationwide, a spokesperson said."

Maine's daily newspaper of record, filled to the brim with hot, fully-caffeinated news aka a free ad for two multi-million-dollar businesses.
