Chellie Says Both She and Angus Are Ready To Retire

Maine's aging pols: out with the old, in with their children (if they have anything to say about it).

Maine's southern-district congresswoman says she is thinking of calling it quits.

Chellie Pingree told NBC News it's about time for the younger generation - including her daughter.

“I’m at the end of my career, close to retirement,” Pingree said.

Pingree also said she believes Maine's junior senator, Angus King, will be retiring soon.

“Angus is probably in his last term in the Senate,” she offered.

And surprise surprise - King's son Angus III is running against Pingree's daughter Hannah for the Democrat nomination for Maine governor.

NBC said Maine leads the nation in terms of dynasty politics in the next election cycle, 2026.

A third well-known political name is also in the mix - Jonathan Bush, nephew and cousin of two Bush presidents. He too is seeking the gubernatorial nomination, but on the GOP side.
