• First Amendment Museum in Augusta is the only one of its kind in the country (foxbangor.com) — Right on State Street in Augusta, the First Amendment Museum has reopened with new interactive exhibits exploring freedoms of speech, press, religion, assembly, and petition. Housed in the former Guy P. Gannett home, the non-partisan museum now offers updated displays like historic newspapers and banned media, and welcomes visitors Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
   

• Meet the finalists for 2027 Maine Teacher of the Year (centralmaine.com) — An Augusta Spanish teacher at Cony Middle and High School, Gretchen Livingston, is one of four finalists for the 2027 Maine Teacher of the Year, highlighting the strong education community in the city. Livingston's long career at Cony, coaching roles, and focus on student well-being and language learning are featured alongside profiles of fellow finalists from Bethel, Lewiston, and Windham.
