2. Augusta Woman Accused in Waterville I-95 Crash That Killed Two Mainedot Workers Is Arrested, Indicted on Manslaughter and Child Endangerment Charges (centralrecorder.com) — An Augusta woman has been arrested and indicted on manslaughter and child endangerment charges months after a Waterville I-95 crash that killed two MaineDOT workers and injured a third. Investigators say her minivan was struck by a tractor-trailer and pushed into a bridge work zone, sending two longtime road workers over the edge. She's now held on $50,000 bail as the case moves to court.
3. Two care providers to lose MaineCare billing privileges next month (wgme.com) — From Augusta, state health officials say two Portland-area care agencies will lose their MaineCare billing privileges next month after license denials, but have extended the cutoff to October 13 so clients can safely transition. The decision follows serious safety and supervision concerns at homes in Saco, Westbrook and Falmouth, and is contingent on the providers helping members move to licensed care.
4. 'I've always wanted to fly': Kids in Aviation Day gives aspiring Maine pilots an up-close look at aviation (newscentermaine.com) — Young Mainers got hands-on time with planes, drones, and cockpits at the University of Maine at Augusta's Kids in Aviation Day, held at Brunswick Airport but driven by UMA's aviation program. For Augusta-area students, the event showcased UMA's pilot, drone, and maintenance training and highlighted efforts to add air traffic control, opening clear local pathways into aviation careers.
