Augusta Heroin Bust On School Street: 2 Arrested

Brandon Darveau and Lindsay Fortin were arrested; Augusta police said they seized more than $16,000 worth of heroin.

AUGUSTA, ME β€” An Augusta heroin trafficking operation was discovered on School Street Tuesday, police said. Brandon Darveau, 24, was arrested and charged with aggravated drug trafficking.

Police said they found more than $16,000 worth of heroin.

The discovery was made Tuesday at about 9:30 a.m. as officers conducted a probation check on Lindsay Forton, 28, at the School Street residence, police said. She was arrested and charged with a probation violation.

"A subsequent search revealed drug paraphernalia and items associated with drug use inside the residence," Augusta Deputy police Chief Jared Mills said in a statement.

A state police K-9 unit helped find the drugs, Mills said. About $7,800 in cash was also seized at the residence.

Darveau was held on $50,000 bail pending an arraignment.
