Augusta Man Bagged for Second OUI in NH After Crash
Richard Dumond was arrested by Merrimack Police on Tuesday morning after allegedly speeding on the Daniel Webster Highway.

MERRIMACK, NH β A Maine man is expected in court tomorrow morning to face his second drunk driving charge after being arrested yesterday morning, according to Merrimack Police. Richard Dumond, 23, of Western Avenue in Augusta, ME, was arrested on Sept. 20, 2016, and charged with operating under the influence of liquor-second offense and speeding.

According to police, at just after midnight, an officer reportedly saw a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox βtraveling south on the Daniel Webster Highway at a high rate of speed.β The officer stopped the vehicle on Industrial Drive, according to Lt. Ted Dillion of the Merrimack Police Department.

βThe officer then observed the vehicle roll forward striking a speed limit sign and then stopping in the grass just beyond the shoulder of the road,β Dillon stated in a report. βWhen the officer spoke to the above driver, Richard Dumond he did show signs of alcohol impairment. After a brief investigation he placed under arrest for O.U.I.L.β
Dumond was transported to police headquarters to be processed and while there, officers learned that he had previously been convicted for DWI in Maine. He was then charged with second offense and given a summons for speeding. Dumond was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in court on Sept. 22.
