Near-Drowning in Augusta: Father Reportedly Charged

An Augusta man was reportedly charged with child endangerment after police said his son nearly drowned in the Kennebec River.

AUGUSTA, ME β€” The father of a 2-year-old boy who nearly drowned in the Kennebec River earlier this month has reportedly been arrested on child endangerment charges.

Police said on Sept. 16, a Good Samaritan pulled the boy from the water near the East Side Boat Landing Playground after seeing the child was in distress, police said

The man then administered CPR and water squirted out from the child's lungs, police said. The boy was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
