'Shatter' Arrest in Alfred

Marshall Smith, of Starks, was charged with drug trafficking.

ALFRED, ME β€” A Starks man was arrested in Alfred Monday for marijuana trafficking after he was found with 124 grams of "shatter" β€” a concentrated form of marijuana β€” according to police. Marshall Smith, 27, was charged with felony drug trafficking.

Police said Smith was a passenger in a Nissan Sentra on Kennebunk Road when a state trooper pulled the driver over for a violation. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a package of shatter hidden under a passenger seat, police said, and Smith admitted it was his.

The amount of drugs allegedly in his possession had a street value of about $5,000.
