From the Sun Journal; Wet, heavy snow hit Maine hard Tuesday morning. Even where the snowfall is lightest — mostly closer to the coast — road conditions were hazardous.
“The roads are quite slick,” Margaret Curtis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Gray, told the Portland Press Herald.“Even where there is less accumulation, it’s slow going.”

Curtis said the rain-snow line is hugging the immediate coast, so areas west of the Maine Turnpike are likely seeing snow. “The heaviest of the snow has already been through,” Curtis said.

Central Maine Power reports that more than 24,000 customers were without power as of 12:13 p.m. Tuesday. Oxford County was hit the hardest with 9,700 customers outages. And Cumberland County reported at least 8,500 outages.
