• CESAC meeting produces seventh recommendation to existing list (townline.org) — China's Emergency Services Assessment Committee wants to become a permanent advisory group and is urging the town to bolster funding and coordination for fire and rescue services. Recommendations include keeping volunteer fire departments, moving China Rescue toward a municipal, potentially paid model, boosting a $1 million capital fund, and exploring ambulance staging costs, all headed to the select board on October 19.
   

• PUBLIC NOTICES for Thursday, October 1, 2026 (townline.org) — China residents have several important public hearings coming up, including October 13 Planning Board sessions on a proposed auto repair garage on Dirigo Road and a four-lot subdivision off Danforth and Pleasant View Ridge Roads. Municipal officers also meet October 5 on assistance rules, a fire truck purchase, solid waste ordinance changes, and key land use code amendments, alongside election and regional notices for Winslow, Somerville, and Somerset County.
   

• SNHU announces summer president's list (townline.org) — Several local students from China and South China have earned a spot on Southern New Hampshire University's Summer 2026 president's list, highlighting strong academic achievement close to home. The long roster also includes students from nearby towns like Augusta, Waterville, Winslow, and Fairfield, underscoring regional pride in these college accomplishments.
