• Homelessness, housing insecurity to be focus of December observance in Livermore Falls (sunjournal.com) — A December 21 homelessness awareness vigil is planned for the Livermore Falls gazebo, honoring people who died while unhoused and spotlighting housing insecurity in nearby rural towns. Organizers will meet October 26 at Jay-Niles Memorial Library to finalize logistics and agency resource tables, as part of a broader Western Maine effort coordinated by Western Maine Community Action.
   

• Jay wrapping up makeover of tennis courts named for El Faro crew member (sunjournal.com) — New Hollandstrong tennis courts in nearby Jay are nearly ready to open, and Livermore Falls officials and residents are among those invited to the October 19 ribbon cutting. The $601,569 project, honoring El Faro crew member Michael Holland, adds three upgraded courts that RSU 73 will manage for public use, with hours, reservations, and lighting policies still to be finalized.
