If you get a call or message threatening arrest or demanding payments or personal data, they say to hang up immediately and never send money or share sensitive information.
2. Equality Commons senior housing opens in Portland (wmtw.com) — A new 54-unit affordable senior housing community, Equality Commons, has just opened on Casco Street in downtown Portland for residents 55 and older. The building offers income-restricted apartments plus on-site support and LGBTQ+-focused programming through its partnership with the neighboring Equality Community Center.
3. Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse has a new light (pressherald.com) — Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse in South Portland, which guards the entrance to Portland Harbor, now shines with a new LED beacon visible up to 10 nautical miles. Volunteers explain how this fourth-generation light improves efficiency and reliability while preserving the lighthouse's historic role guiding every vessel coming into Portland's waters.
4. Project Home receives $1.5M anonymous donation to help single mothers (pressherald.com) — A Portland-based nonprofit, Project Home, just received a surprise $1.47 million anonymous gift that will let its Trust Program for single mothers more than double in size. Already supporting families in and beyond Portland with no-strings cash assistance, the group plans to reach about 300 mothers and 600 children statewide over three years while continuing to focus on housing stability and financial security.
5. Roman Anthony says he's 'good to go,' hits towering homer in rehab debut (kdhnews.com) — Roman Anthony is back in action at Hadlock Field, launching a towering homer in his rehab debut for the Portland Sea Dogs after nearly four months sidelined by a hand injury. His strong return in Portland suggests he's close to rejoining the Red Sox lineup, capping a long, frustrating recovery with a standout performance local fans could see in person.
