Artists show off original Lego creations at BrickUniverse in Portland (wgme.com) โ Families in Portland just enjoyed BrickUniverse at the Portland Expo, where professional LEGO artists displayed huge sculptures, mosaics, and architectural builds. Creators say the event is all about inspiring local kids to experiment beyond the instruction booklet and even imagine future careers in design, engineering, or the arts.

The Maine Marathon, held in Portland, has a record number of runners (newenglandnewspress.com) โ Portland hosted a record-setting Maine Marathon with more than 5,500 registered runners and an estimated $3 million boost to the city's economy. Winners Betsy Burke and Dylan Stoltzfus led a field where over half the participants came from out of state, helping raise up to $900,000 for about 100 charities tied to the race.

3. Portland's Taco Escobarr sues copycat Nevada restaurant (pressherald.com) โ A long-running Congress Street favorite, Taco Escobarr in Portland is suing a Las Vegas restaurant it says copied its name and branding, allegedly confusing customers and hurting its reputation. The federal lawsuit, filed in Maine, seeks to stop the Nevada business from using the similar name and to recover damages for lost profits and goodwill tied to the Portland restaurant.

4. United flight from Scotland makes fuel stop at Portland Jetport (newscentermaine.com) โ An international United Airlines flight from Edinburgh to Washington, D.C., made an unexpected fuel stop at the Portland International Jetport after strong headwinds burned more fuel than planned. Portland fire crews stood by with special equipment to safely refuel the unusually large Boeing 757-200 passenger jet before it continued on and landed safely in Washington.

5. Oversize load to complete the final leg of its journey from Jay to South Portland (pressherald.com) โ An enormous 683,000-pound industrial load is finishing its slow journey from Jay to South Portland overnight, with detours and a temporary jumper bridge affecting nearby routes. Escorted by police and utility crews, the convoy will move through Scarborough into South Portland by early Tuesday, and is the first of nine such trips planned along this route.
