“Expanded ways for people to safely bike in Portland is consistently mentioned by residents as something they value and hope to see more of,” said Christine Grimando, the City’s Planning & Urban Development Director. “Having a bike share system in Portland will be a fantastic opportunity for us to increase affordable, healthy transit and recreation options for all. We’re hoping to find a sponsor as this will help ensure the bikeshare system is affordable.”Having a title sponsor will help to ensure that the cost of the bikeshare system is affordable to users and on par with public transit fares. The sponsorship provides an opportunity for a private sector partner to play a central role in bringing a more sustainable transportation option to Portland, one that has positive benefits on the health and wellness of residents and visitors.

Keli Hoyt-Rupert, CEO of Tandem Mobility said, “We're incredibly excited about our partnership with the City of Portland. We're impressed with the high level of engagement that the Portland community has expressed in launching and establishing a bike share system, and as a company with roots in New England, we couldn't be happier to be working on making a program a reality in Portland. Just as with other transportation systems, subsidy is key to launching this program, and we are looking forward to meeting with organizations about their sponsorship potential."
