Maine Sports Commission Announces New Appointments to Board
The Maine Sports Commission has appointed three new members to its Board of Directors.

PORTLAND, Maine (March 26, 2018) The Maine Sports Commission – a statewide, nonprofit organization that markets Maine as a four-season sports destination – has appointed three new members to its Board of Directors.
“All of our Board members bring a passion for enhancing the economy by promoting Maine’s ideal sports event landscape,” said the Commission’s Strategic Director, Sheila Brennan Nee. “Our organization is very fortunate to have their commitment as we work together to bring new sports tourism business opportunities to Maine and elevate our current events.”
Established in 2012 in response to the growing demand for information regarding sports events and sports-related meetings, the Maine Sports Commission leadership includes: representation from the Maine Office of Tourism, associates from the Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau and Visit Portland, and leaders from the sports and tourism industries. Joining the Board are Carolann Ouellette, Johnny Mehler, and Nick Cormier:

Carolann Ouellette is the Executive Director of Maine Huts & Trails based in Kingfield and a returning Board member. Previously, Carolann was the Director of the Maine Office of Tourism (MOT) and served as a founding Board member of the Commission, playing a pivotal part in the Commission’s formation. During her tenure with MOT, the state experienced consistent growth in tourism. Her passion for sports tourism and outdoor recreation developed through her background as a whitewater guide and former Operations Manager of the New England Outdoor Center. Carolann is a graduate of Cornell University.
Johnny Mehler is a Marketing Specialist with Spectrum Healthcare Partners where he creates campaigns and training tools for the statewide organization of physicians. Johnny often attends sporting events throughout the state, sponsored by Spectrum Healthcare Partners, and has participated in the Dempsey Challenge and the Maine Pond Hockey Classic. He was previously involved in sports as an anchor/reporter with NEWS CENTER MAINE (formerly WCHS6/WLBZ2). Johnny is a graduate of Temple University where he played Division I roller hockey.

Nick Cormier is the Operations Coordinator at Broadreach Public Relations in Portland where he oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm, including financial and facilities operations and vendor management. Broadreach Public Relations is the agency of record for the Commission and Nick was appointed to the Commission’s Board as an ex-officio member. He has previously served as a consultant for high school student-athletes interested in competing in college level sports. Prior to that, he was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Bates College. Nick is a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University and earned a master’s degree from Concordia University (CA).
