Portland Council Seeks Applicants For Racial Equity Steering Committee

Mayor Snyder intends to announce the members of the Racial Equity Steering Committee at the Council's September 9 meeting.

The Portland City Council established a Racial Equity Steering Committee as part of a resolution that it passed at its July 13, 2020 Council meeting. The Committee will be tasked with developing recommendations to the City Council regarding the ways in which city government should address and respond to institutional racism and structural inequities. Any members of the public who wish to be considered to serve on this steering committee should send a cover letter and resume to the Mayor’s Office no later than 12:00 PM on Monday, August 31, 2020. Cover letters and resumes can be emailed to Deivy Periana at deivyp@portlandmaine.gov or mailed to Mayor’s Office, Attn: Racial Equity Steering Committee, Room 208, 389 Congress Street, Portland, Maine, 04101.
