UCU Expands Business Services Team with Promotion of Derek Hebert

Hebert will focus on connecting with business owners and entrepreneurs across the state of Maine

ORONO, MaineUniversity Credit Union is expanding its business services team with the promotion of Derek Hebert to Business Lending Officer.

Hebert joined UCU in 2013 as a branch manager in Portland, Gorham, and, most recently, in Orono. Hebert brings over twenty years of experience in financial services spanning commercial lending, retail services, and business member relationships.

With this promotion, Hebert joins longtime Business Services Manager Jay Fortier, who is based out of Orono. In his new role, Hebert will focus on connecting with business owners and entrepreneurs across the state of Maine and will take a hands-on approach to business lending in all UCU’s markets.

“We are pleased to have Derek in this new role to provide solutions to our business members,” said April Gleason, Vice President of Lending at UCU. “What makes UCU unique is that we grow with our members, from their first account, through college, and starting and growing a business. Many UCU members and community members have gotten to know Derek over the years, now they’ll enjoy his expertise and service as part of a dedicated team that will get to know their business just as well.”

Hebert is a graduate of Windham High School and attended the University of Southern Maine. He lives in Stetson, Maine with his family, where you can find him fishing, working on his latest home brew, or playing music.

UCU’s business lending solutionsrange from small lines of credit to commercial real estate properties, and include a variety of solutions such as SBA, FAME and USDA. In addition, UCU offers business checking, bill pay services, home and mobile banking platforms, and remote deposit services.
