University Credit Union Renews Partnership with USM Athletics
Agreement provides USM Athletics with $10,000 in additional funding for facilities improvements, equipment upgrades, and more
PORTLAND, Maine – University Credit Union (UCU) announced the renewal of its longstanding partnership with the University of Southern Maine (USM) Athletics. The agreement provides USM Athletics with $10,000 in additional funding for facilities improvements, equipment upgrades, special services/events, and other activities not included in the department’s regular operating budget.
University Credit Union has proudly served the University of Maine System students, employees, alumni and their families for over 50 years. This 2018 agreement marks UCU’s twelfth consecutive year of supporting USM Athletics.
“UCU is committed to the belief that investing in our student-athletes yields exponential returns in the way of broader engagement with the community, improved campus life and positive school spirit,” said UCU President and CEO Matthew Walsh. “We are pleased to continue our tradition of support for the University of Southern Maine.”

Our relationship goes back many years, and during that time, their support of our program has been critical as we have continued to improve USM Athletics across the board.”
Since 2007, UCU’s contributions to USM Athletics have totaled more than $155,000 and have helped support many improvements to USM Athletics and Fitness & Recreation facilities, including helping to fund the construction of USM’s first all-weather playing surface at Hannaford Field.
