• Property Tax Changes in Midcoast Vary Dramatically (midcoastvillager.com) — South Thomaston property owners face about an 11% tax hike this year, with the rate rising to $12.34 per $1,000 of value and a $400,000 home paying roughly $350 more. The town will raise $6.25 million in taxes, and 71% of that goes to RSU 13, leaving about $1.3 million for municipal services like roads, EMS, and fire protection. 
• Drive Continues to Renovate Historic Gilford Butler Building (midcoastvillager.com) — South Thomaston is moving ahead with transforming the historic Gilford Butler Building into a modern library and community center, after voters chose preservation over demolition in 2024. Structural work, ADA access, energy upgrades, and high-speed internet are underway now, with future phases planned for a community hall, new wastewater system, and improved parking and landscaping to support a true town hub.
