Aberdeen Police ID Victims in Double Homicide
Police said a man and woman were killed as the result of early Monday morning shootings in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen, MD — A man and woman were killed early Monday morning in Aberdeen, officials say.
Police responded to the unit block of East Bel Air Avenue at 3:15 a.m. for a report of shots fired and found two victims.
Taneisha C. Smothers, 31, of Aberdeen, was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Jumal R. Dudley, 43, of Havre de Grace, was flown in critical condition to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where Aberdeen Police said he later died.

According to police, the victims knew one another.
Family members said that Smothers and Dudley were a couple, The Aegis reported, and neither lived at the apartment complex where investigators discovered them.

"The shooter(s) fled the scene," Detective Sergeant Will Reiber told Patch. "The scene was determined to be safe after a scene canvass by arriving investigators."
Police reported that all schools in the area were operating on regular schedules.
"Investigators quickly determined that there was no longer an active shooter threat so no school or other community activities were altered as a result of this incident," Aberdeen Police said in a statement.
