3rd Annual "Kicks for Chase" Soccer Game Scored Big for Charity

Over $2,500 Raised for The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region

On April 17, 2015 UMBC hosted its 3rd Annual “Kicks for Chase” soccer game at Retriever Soccer Park. The game featured the UMBC Retrievers men’s soccer team, who reached the College Cup in the 2014 season, against the Villanova Wildcats. This successful event raised over $2,500 for The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region (The Arc NCR).

Kicks for Chase began in 2013 in memory of Chase Bugarin. Chase, son of UMBC soccer standout Bryan Bugarin and his wife Amy, was born with Down Syndrome and severe complications. In his honor, UMBC began Kicks for Chase to raise money for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This year, attendees had the opportunity to win a UMBC Final Four season t-shirt, purchase a commemorative Under Armour game t-shirt, and enjoyed discounted concessions. All money raised went to The Arc NCR’s programs to support individuals with differing abilities.

“I was extremely impressed by the high level of engagement between the soccer players and the individuals we support,” says The Arc NCR’s Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Drumheller. “We brought a big crowd to watch the game, and it meant the world to them to receive this kind of community interaction. You can tell UMBC truly cares.”
