6 Pot Plants, 3 Guns Found in Aberdeen Home: Police

After special operations team found marijuana growing operation, a 56-year-old Aberdeen man faces nine charges, police say.

ABERDEEN, MD — A special operations team serving a search and seizure warrant in Aberdeen uncovered multiple marijuana plants as well as weapons at a residence, the Aberdeen Police Department reported.

Jeffrey Newman, 56, of the unit block of Liberty Street in Aberdeen, faces multiple drug and firearms charges, including drug trafficking with a firearm, police said.

A team of special operations officers searched Newman's residence at approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, according to authorities.

One pound of raw marijuana, six mature pot plants, two shotguns, one revolver, packaging material, paraphernalia and other items were seized, Aberdeen police reported.

Newman is charged with possession of more than 10 grams of marijuana; possession with intent to distribute drugs; manufacturing a narcotic; possessing a firearm with a felony conviction; drug trafficking with a firearm; possessing a shotgun with a felony conviction; illegal possession of a firearm; possessing a firearm in a drug offense; and illegal possession of ammunition, court records show.

He was taken to the Harford County Detention Center for processing.
