Aberdeen Man Asks Police for Directions, is Arrested for DUI

In New Jersey, an officer observed the car swerving and detected alcohol.

Gerald M. Steier, 69, of Aberdeen, was charged and arrested Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in New Jersey after asking a police officer for directions, PhillyBurbs reported.

Police reported that Steier pulled to the side of Route 130 in South Jersey and asked an officer for directions. The officer said he witnessed Steier's car swerve and could smell alcohol on his breath. 

According to PhillyBurbs, Steier was also charged with reckless driving and refusing to submit breath samples.

Police said they also found several empty alcohol bottles in Steier's car, according to PhillyBurbs.

Steier was released to a family member and is expected to make a court appearance.
