Aberdeen's Saddler Lifts Delaware Over Towson with Buzzer Beater

Delaware needed a last-second three-pointer by freshman Devon Saddler of Aberdeen to break a 23-game road losing streak in the CAA and edge Towson 66-63 at the Towson Center on Saturday.

The way the season has gone for Towson University's men's basketball team, losing on a buzzer-beater was not a shock. But against the University of Delaware on Saturday afternoon, they were burned by two final shots—a near length-of-the-court shot to end the half and one to end the game.

On Saturday at the Towson Center, Aberdeen's own Devon Saddler hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to give the Blue Hens a 66-63 come-from-behind win over Towson before 1,245 at the Towson Center on Saturday.

The Tigers (4-12, 0-6 CAA) remain winless in the conference, while Delaware broke a 23-game road conference losing streak with the win, improving to 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the CAA. Junior center Braxton Dupree led the Tigers with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while senior guard Josh Brown added 15 points.

With the score tied at 63-63, senior guard Jawan Carter split a double team and found Saddler with just seconds left from three point range. The freshman released the final shot just before time expired.

"Tough loss for our guys," said coach Towson head coach Pat Kennedy. "They fought really hard."

Kennedy said he wanted to try to win during regulation by putting pressure on Delaware in the last seconds when the Blue Hens were in-bounding the ball.
