Aberdeen's 9/11 Ceremony Draws Crowd to Festival Park
Students, soldiers and other officials celebrated the city's new memorial.
The City of Aberdeen came together at Festival Park in a display of patriotism Wednesday.
Students of St. Joan of Arc School held a Freedom Walk from their school to the park and shared songs and essays to honor their nation twelve years after the Sept. 11 attacks.
Other citizens and several soldiers joined them for the 9 a.m. ceremony, when the city broke ground on its 9/11 memorial, which will include a piece of the World Trade Center in addition to three flagpoles, according to Aberdeen Mayor Michael Bennett.
