APG Fires Cannons In Salute To Former President George HW Bush
Cannons were fired 71 times at Aberdeen Proving Ground on Thursday, Dec. 6.

ABERDEEN, MD — People around Aberdeen Proving Ground were alerted they may experience vibrations and loud noises on Thursday, Dec. 6. The military installation honored the late President George H.W. Bush with a 21-cannon salute and a 50-cannon salute.
Cannons were set to go off at Fanshaw Field in the Aberdeen North area at two points during the day, according to APG officials.

This was the schedule for the cannon salutes to President George H.W. Bush on base.

Noon on Thursday, Dec. 6
- 21-cannon salute
- Firing will occur at 1-minute intervals
- Estimated to run from noon to 12:21 p.m.
5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6
- 50-cannon salute
- Firing will occur at a 5-second intervals
- Estimated to run from 5 to 5:05 p.m.
"Both events are expected to produce loud noise and vibration," Aberdeen Proving Ground officials said in Thursday, Dec. 6.
The firing events were not open to the public.
