Controlled Burn Planned At APG
APG is planning to set fires on Wednesday to help maintain the land on its ranges, officials say.

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD — There may be fires burning at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) on Wednesday, according to officials. Don't be alarmed; they are part of a controlled burn.
The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center along with APG Directorate of Emergency Services are planning weather-dependent controlled burns for today, April 11, for management of downrange areas at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
According to APG, fire is the best way to maintain the ranges in terms of both safety and cost, because of concerns regarding unexploded ordnances. Mowing could be dangerous, officials say.
