Grounded: IronBirds Cancel Saturday Game
The IronBirds and Staten Island will not play Saturday.
UPDATED (9:10 p.m.)——The IronBirds won't try to fly in Hurricane Irene Saturday.
After initially rescheduling the original 7:05 first pitch to noon, the IronBirds cancelled Saturday's game with the Staten Island Yankees because of the impending hurricane.
"Although a tough decision, the IronBirds front office feels the safety of the customers, players and staff is most important," the club stated in a release issued Friday evening.

Fans with tickets for Saturday's game should visit the team website for exchange options.
Additionally, the IronBirds-Yankees game scheduled for Sunday in Staten Island has been postponed. The two teams will play a double-header Monday at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
