The 5th Annual Harford
County’s AAUW Food Fight
is scheduled for Monday, May 19 at the beautiful Vandiver Inn. Located at 301
S. Union Street in Havre de Grace the event will begin at 6:30 pm. Chef’s from
DuClaw’s, Manor Tavern, MacGregors and Pairings Bistro will compete in a
culinary competition which is a hybrid of Iron Chef and Chopped.
Previous years’ winners have been Chef Kristina from
the Laurrapin Grille (2010 & 2011) and Chef Travis from Manor Tavern (2012 &2013).
In
one hour’s time, the chefs will create an appetizer and an entrée utilizing
food from a pantry as well as a mystery box.
Judges
will evaluate the food on presentation, originality, use of the mystery box’s
items and taste. The winner will receive a handsome plaque as well as “bragging
rights”.

Tickets
for judges are $35 and are limited to 30 participants. However, there will be
plenty of seats for the audience and those tickets are $5 for students, $7 for
adults and $20 for a family of 4 or more. Food and drinks as well as a cash bar
will be available for purchase by all. Attendees will receive a swag bag and
will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a basket filled with
food, kitchen items and gift cards valued at over $500.
All
proceeds will go towards scholarships for deserving women to pursue their dream
