Harford County to Celebrate Worldwide Car Free Day
Free bus passes for September 22 will be available to Harford Community College Commuters.

All motorists can reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and save money at the gas pump by traveling in ways that are more efficient, affordable and environmentally friendly on Worldwide Car-Free Day, Thursday, September 22, 2016. To encourage participation, Harford Transit’s Commute Smart division will offer Harford Community College commuters free passes for September 22 on Harford Transit LINK buses.
Beginning on September 1, the free passes will be available in the Student Center on the Harford Community College campus at 401 Thomas Run Road in Bel Air. Leading up to Car-Free Day, Harford Commute Smart will also be on-site to distribute the passes and provide information on commuting options in Harford County.
“Harford Commute Smart encourages motorists to consider alternatives such as walking, biking, carpooling and vanpooling, or mass transit options such as commuter buses, MARC Train, Light Rail and Harford Transit LINK buses,” said Alan Doran, manager of Commute Smart for Harford County government. “Travelers who choose Harford LINK can also track their buses in real time on any established route using RouteSHOUT.”
RouteSHOUT is a free app available from Google Play and Apple’s App Store, or on the Harford County government website.
Harford Commute Smart, a division of Harford Transit under the county’s Office of Economic Development, promotes viable transportation alternatives for Harford County citizens.
