Harford County to Plant 630 Trees in Edgewood

The Arbor Day 2013 event will take place on March 29.

Maryland celebrates Arbor Day on the first Wednesday in April, but Harford County is getting a jump on the holiday this year.

On March 29, there will be a tree planting at Edgewood Elementary School, coordinated by the Harford County Department of Planning and Zoning.

Volunteers will plant 630 trees during the event, which includes demonstrations, a free tree and lunch, according to organizers.

Five hundred seedlings and 130 balled and burlapped trees will be planted.

Individuals and groups are welcome to participate and are encouraged to bring a shovel, hammer and gloves. See the event flyer for more details.

Aberdeen is hosting another green event this spring. The city's Earth Day festival on April 20 will also feature environmental education and demonstrations.

The Arbor Day 2013 celebration in Harford County will be at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 29, at Edgewood Elementary School (2000 Cedar Drive) in Edgewood.
