IronBirds Host ValleyCats in Playoffs

The Tri-City ValleyCats will travel to Aberdeen for the game Friday.

After clinching the McNamara Division title, the Aberdeen IronBirds take on the Tri-City ValleyCats.

In what marks the first playoff game in franchise history, the IronBirds will host the New York team at Ripken Stadium Friday night.

“It has been a fun season here in Aberdeen with these guys and the fans,” IronBirds Manager Matt Merullo said in a prepared statement. “We are thrilled that we get to be a part of history at Ripken Stadium on Friday night.”

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday.

Sebastian Vader will be the starting pitcher for the IronBirds, and Michael Feliz for Tri-City.

To celebrate the event, the IronBirds announced there will be several perks for fans.

  • Esskay will distribute complimentary commemorative game programs to all attendees.
  • APGFCU will be giving away IronBirds towels to early birds.
  • A post-game fireworks show sponsored by PNC Bank will light up the sky over Ripken Stadium.
