The IronBirds played their way to the McNamara Division title Monday with a 7-3 win over the Lowell Spinners.
It is the team’s first time making the playoffs in franchise history.
"It's a special team. It's a special place," Manager Matt Merullo said in this post-game interview on YouTube. "It's great to bring a playoff team to Aberdeen."
The IronBirds were set to play the Spinners again Wednesday evening before the New York-Penn League Playoffs begin Friday, Sept. 6. An opponent has not yet been named but the IronBirds reportedly anticipate playing the number two seed.
