Lots of Fun at Lights On After School
After proclaiming Oct. 20, 2011 as Lights on After School Day in Aberdeen, Mayor Michael Bennett praises the Boys and Girls Club of Harford County.
The held its annual Lights on After School event on Thursday, a time for children and teenagers to participate in Octoberfest activities.
Mayor Michael Bennett, who proclaimed Oct. 20 as Lights on After School Day in support of extracurricular activities for students, was joined by council members Sandra Landbeck and Bruce Garner and police Chief Henry Trabert.
"We look at all these kids, and if they weren't here, where would they be?" said Bennett. "This is really important to me. This is where I was raised, this part of town."

The activities for children included a moon bounce, costume contest, musical chairs, dinner (with candy), and getting their picture taken in front of a green screen. Teenagers get their own separate room with computers and televisions.
"There's a whole lot we got going on today," said Saiquaan Brown, who has been volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club for two years.
