Police said a man was injured when he and two others were trespassing on the CSX railroad tracks Monday night in Aberdeen.

ABERDEEN, MD — Charges are pending against a man who was hit by a CSX train Monday night in Aberdeen, police said.

Before 11 p.m., the man and two others were allegedly trespassing on the railroad tracks when a southwest-bound train approached. The engineer saw the pedestrians, who were in a prohibited area near the 100 block of North Rogers Street, and activated emergency signals to alert them that the 44-car train was coming.

Two of the pedestrians got out of the way, while one did not clear the engine and his lower extremities were injured, police said. The trio reportedly waited until the last minute to jump off the tracks.
