Perryman Apartment Blaze Caused $70K In Damage: Fire Marshal
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of Wednesday night's fire on Perrywood Court.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Officials said fire broke out at an apartment building near Perryman Wednesday night, displacing several people and causing $70,000 in damage.
Authorities said the blaze started in a kitchen in the 200 block of Perrywood Court at 6:55 p.m. It took firefighters half an hour to control the blaze, which was contained to a first-floor apartment, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
There was smoke and water damage to other apartments in the building, the fire marshal reported, causing a total of 11 people to be displaced.

Although there was a smoke alarm at the building, officials said it did not go off. Residents activated the fire alarm.
There was $50,000 in structural damage and $20,000 worth of items inside were lost, according to the fire marshal.

Harford County Disaster Assistance and the Red Cross were assisting the residents.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation, the fire marshal said Thursday morning.
