The Sun: Orioles Top Draft Picks Join IronBirds

Three top 10 draft picks will join Aberdeen's roster as other players depart.

The IronBirds will be getting a boost to their roster in the form of three of the Orioles top 10 picks from last month's draft.

According to The Sun, third-round pick Mike Wright, fifth-round choice Matt Taylor, and ninth-rounder Devin Jones have been assigned to the IronBirds.

Wright, a right-handed pitcher, was 6-4 with a 2.79 ERA in 16 starts at East Carolina. Taylor, a lefty, was 7-5 with a 3.31 ERA in 15 starts at Middle Georgia. Jones, a right-handed pitcher, was 2-5 with a 4.37 ERA in 19 appearances—including eight starts—at Mississippi State.

To make room, pitchers Samuel Taveras, James Brandhorst and Brandon Holloway, and outfielder Cody Young were released.

The IronBirds host Hudson Valley Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. before welcoming the Lowell Spinners for three games starting Wednesday.
