School officials thanked parents who shared information about the threatening post and encouraged all who hear of potential threats to alert authorities.
The Aberdeen Police Department and the Harford County Public Schools Department of Safety and Security are working together on the investigation into the threat and and the response to it.
The threat came a little more than a month after an Instagram threat at Aberdeen Middle School caused a modified lockdown at that school. In that case from December 2017, police said an 8th grade student was charged as a juvenile with threats of mass violence and disturbing school operations and was referred to juvenile services.
