Police Identify 2 Dead People from Woods

The cause of death is still under investigation, but a propane appliance found inside the tent suggests that carbon monoxide poisoning most likely killed two homeless people.

Aberdeen police have released the names of the . 

George W. Woodrow, 32, and Tameka R. Hooker, 28, who had no permanent address, died after sleeping in a tent in a wooded area near Post Road and Route 22 on the night of Jan. 19, according to a news release from the . A third person in the tent, Herbert Vinson, 32, was hospitalized but released.

A propane appliance used to emit light was found inside the tent, said Sgt. Fred Budnick, a spokesman for the Aberdeen Police Department. There were no signs of foul play, but the cause of death is still under investigation, police said. A local fire and EMS official, who declined to be identified, suggested that carbon monoxide poisoning from the propane appiance could be responsible.

Emergency medical crews and police found Woodrow and Hooker unconscious and unresponsive at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 20, after Vinson called 911.

All three people were transported to , where Woodrow and Hooker were pronounced dead. Vinson was treated and released, according to police.

As a result of the Patch report late last week of the deaths of the two people in the tent, several readers posted comments regarding the circumstances that found the two camping near a highway. One person who contended to be a family member of Woodrow's commented that he was wating for an apartment to be ready in February.
