Weapons And Watercraft Tests Underway At Aberdeen Proving Ground

The community around APG may see flashes of light or hear unusual sounds, officials say.

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD – Flashes of light and booms may be experienced around Aberdeen Proving Ground. The community is advised not to be alarmed, as these are part of the U.S. Army's testing operations.

The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center will be training with military weapons and watercraft during the day and night on April 18 and April 19, officials said.

None of the training events will present a hazard but community members may hear weapons firing or see illumination off post.

Officials at Aberdeen Proving Ground, which serves as a testing facility for military equipment and weapons, say they are monitoring the weather and conducting noise readings throughout the exercise to ensure there is minimal impact on the community.
