OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND — A small Cessna 150 plane made an emergency landing on the beach in Ocean City late Monday.
The Ocean City Fire Department said first responders were alerted to the area of 94th Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. The plan was carrying two individuals.
Video from the scene showed firefighters approaching the plane as it was tilted toward its right wing.
The fire department said the plane had departed from the Ocean City Municipal Airport.
"There was no sound, I just suddenly saw a plane, like dive down,"BethAnn Wells, who lives in a nearby apartment, told the WBOC station. "It was level, it just flew level with the sand, and then nose-dived into the sand and crashed."
Maryland State Police told the outlet that the two individuals were from Bel Air and that they had refused treatment.
An investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board is ongoing.
