CALVERT COUNTY, MD — A 23-year-old Lexington Park man is charged with attempted murder after a juvenile was stabbed during a fight at the Solomons fireworks celebration, according to the Calvert County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the Solomons Island Gazebo around 9:20 p.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of a fight involving multiple people. While en route, dispatchers received additional information that someone armed with a knife had stabbed another person.
Because the Independence Day fireworks display had been rescheduled, a large crowd had gathered in the area, and the Sheriff's Office had increased its law enforcement presence.
Deputies found the juvenile victim suffering from multiple stab wounds and immediately began lifesaving measures. The victim was flown to a regional trauma center.
Investigators identified the suspect as Devin Allen Miles. Deputies located Miles as he was attempting to flee the area and arrested him without incident.
Miles was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. He was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing.
