Decomposing Body Found Behind Vacant MD Business, Investigation Underway

LUSBY, MD — Authorities are investigating after a 61-year-old man was found dead behind a vacant business in Calvert County, according to the Calvert County Sheriff's Office.

The man's body was discovered Tuesday in a parking lot area in the 11700 block of H.G. Trueman Road in Lusby. Responding deputies found him face down, and authorities said the remains showed signs of significant decomposition. Personal belongings believed to be his were also found nearby.

Detectives learned the man had reportedly been experiencing homelessness and had recently stayed at a home in Lusby. Investigators were told he had been asked to leave the residence and planned to stay in a wooded area behind the vacant business where he was later found.

Authorities documented and examined the scene before the man's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. His identity and cause and manner of death have not been released.
