MD Man Accused Of Pointing Loaded Gun At 7 Kids: Sheriff

LEXINGTON PARK, MD — A Lexington Park man is facing more than a dozen charges after authorities said he confronted several juveniles and pointed a loaded handgun at them.

William James Doyle III, 65, was arrested Sunday after St. Mary's County sheriff's deputies responded to the 21000 block of Liberty Street for a weapons complaint.

Several juveniles told deputies a man had confronted them with a gun, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies arrived and found Doyle, who matched the description provided by the juveniles, authorities said.

Doyle was carrying a compact pistol with six rounds of ammunition in the magazine and an empty chamber, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators said several of the juveniles reported that Doyle pointed the gun at them during the confrontation. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

Doyle was charged with seven counts of both first- and second-degree assault, one count of wearing and carrying a loaded handgun and one count of wearing and carrying a handgun on his person.
