Maryland residents will get a taste of fall weather this week before warm and slightly humid conditions make a return.
The National Weather Service says high temperatures will max out in the high 70s Monday and Tuesday, when both days provide breezy, cool conditions. Slight wind gusts are expected.
A light jacket may be needed for some, as temperatures are forecast to drop into the high 50s by nightfall on Monday and Tuesday.
Unlike the past weekend, Marylanders can expect both days to offer sunshine all day long.
Weather conditions take a bit of a turn by Wednesday, when Marylanders will see the heat and humidity tick upwards as southerly winds blow into town. Muggy conditions will be in full swing Thursday.
High temperatures will be in the low 80s Wednesday and steadily increase toward the low 90s on Thursday and Friday.
Forecasters are warning there is a slight chance of rain after 2 p.m. Friday. While rain is likely going into the weekend, a chance for showers and thunderstorms is anticipated Sunday.
Monday Afternoon: Sunny, with a high near 78. North wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. North wind 3 to 8 mph.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 76. Light and variable wind becoming east around 6 mph in the morning.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59. Light southeast wind.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 85.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 68.
Friday: A slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Friday Night: A slight chance of showers before 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84.
