Boy, 11, Charged In Maryland Dollar Store Blaze: Officials
The massive Sept. 3 fire destroyed a Dollar General store in Hampstead, officials said.
CARROLL COUNTY, MD — An 11-year-old boy is facing charges in connection with a massive fire that destroyed a Dollar General store in Hampstead last week, according to Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
The boy was charged with first-degree arson following the fire, the state fire marshal's office said. The boy, whose name was not released due to his age and charges, was released to his parents.
The case was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services, officials said.

Just after 5 p.m. on Sept. 3, Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company and other departments responded to Dollar General at 834 S. Main St. for a reported building fire. It took fire crews more than an hour to bring the blaze under control, officials said.
No injuries were reported, according to officials.
